At First Steps Himalaya, we believe that financial barriers should never stand in the way of a child’s education. Since the devastating Nepal earthquakes of 2015, many families still live in temporary shelters, making it even harder for children in rural communities to access quality education. Our Scholarship and Prize programmes provide vital support and encouragement to children from disadvantaged families, helping them stay in school, excel academically, and unlock their full potential.

What the Scholarship and Prize Fund Supports

Scholarships help cover essential costs, including:

  • School uniforms – ensuring every child feels confident, included, and ready to learn alongside their peers.

  • Stationery and learning materials – from notebooks and pencils to essential classroom resources that support everyday learning.

  • School prizes – small but meaningful rewards that recognise effort, attendance, and achievement, helping motivate children to keep working hard.

By covering these costs, the Scholarship and Prize Fund gives disadvantaged children the chance to enjoy a normal school life and the encouragement they need to succeed.

Who Benefits?

Children aged 3–7 who are identified by their schools as being most in need receive support through these programmes.
