Situated in the hills south of Pokhara, Syangja is a place of great beauty with orange groves and pretty villages. There are fine views of the Annapurna mountain range on a clear day too. However, schools here are similar to others across rural Nepal: dirty dilapidated classrooms with teachers lacking knowledge of child friendly teaching methods. The Syangja projects commenced in early 2019 and are already making great progress.

Our pre-project assessment showed us the state fo schools with dilapidated classrooms and teachers with no real understanding of child friendly education.

Some of our Successful Projects

Shree talo kumundang school

Situated high on a ridge at the end of a mountain track, this really is a the school in the clouds! Children wear winter woolies and hats for much of the year. This school continues to make fantastic progress under the watchful eye of the headmaster. who is convinced of the new methods and actively supports his staff to attend training and implement what they have learnt. The classrooms are bright and colourful and children really enjoy the activities which supplement the curriculum. We are delighted to see such positive changes and with more training and supervision, this school could become a model for the area.

shree Himali school

Standards of child friendly learning continue to impress at this school which has been one of the quickest to change in the project area. There are lots of child led activities and the teachers are gaining confidence in handling children using modern contemporary methods. The ECD teacher is one of the best in the project area and is very enthusiastic and passionate about what she does.

Shree ranabir school

There has been a massive improvement here since the project began. The teachers have really taken on board what that have learnt at teacher training and the classrooms are now much more child friendly. Teachers use quiet voices and the children are happier in a calmer child focused learning environment. The headmaster is very positive and delighted with the changes.
