MEET OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Jenny had a long career as a primary school teacher, and is keenly aware that education is the most powerful way to raise living standards and lead to a better quality of life. She is a long standing board member with a vast amount of knowledge and has visited the First Steps projects in Nepal. She is a keen singer and cyclist.
Nicky moved to New Zealand from the United Kingdom in 2002 and trained as a teacher. She has taught in rural and urban schools for 15 years. Nicky works with the Nepal team to develop and implement its teacher training programmes. She has a passion for literacy, music and the arts and she is one of the few qualified Philosophy for Children practitioners in NZ.
Giles was a primary school teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and Head Teacher in the UK and in New Zealand from 1995 to 2006. Following nine years as principal of a rural school in the Nelson Lakes region, he is now a Lead Advisor for the Ministry of Education’s Communities of Learning in New Zealand. Giles is passionate about education and learning in all its forms.
John is the retired Chief Engineer for Rolls Royce U.K. He has many years of business experience, and acts as a mentor to the directors. He has visited two of the project villages, Sangachok and Jitpur, and has made three trips to Nepal.
Kay is an experienced organisational development professional with significant experience in change management, business analysis, process improvement, operationalising strategy, training design/delivery and strengthening teams. She has a long history of utilising her professional skills volunteering for many local and international community groups.
